Before (EACH HAS THE SAME)

Joel : 26 ÷ 2 = 13 units

Simon : 26 ÷ 2 = 13 units

(Total : 26 units)

After

Joel : 8 units x 2 = 16 units

Simon : 5 units x 2 = 10 units

(note : 13 units cannot be divided into 2, will change the total to 26 units)

Total : 13 units x 2 = 26 units

Joel : 16 units - 13 units = 3 units (extra - received from Simon)

1 unit = $15 ÷ 3 = $5
